Meet Shala Hawkins

Shala's journey into fitness began not in a gym, but in her own struggle to find a wellness approach that honored her whole self. After years of trying fitness programs that felt disconnected from her values and community, she realized something was missing from the industry.

“I founded NFM because I saw too many people—especially in underserved communities—being left out of conversations about wellness,” Shala reflects. “Fitness shouldn't be about conforming to someone else's idea of health. It should be about discovering your own strength, in your own way, surrounded by people who truly see you.”

With her ISAA (International Sports Sciences Association) certification, Shala brings both professional expertise and lived experience to every program. Her holistic approach combines evidence-based fitness principles with deep cultural competency and trauma-informed care.

Today, Shala has guided hundreds of individuals toward sustainable wellness transformations. Her work extends beyond personal training to community building, mentorship, and advocacy for accessible fitness resources.
